About me

I bring research, innovation and experience design together, helping teams build products that are useful, thoughtful and fun. Right now I'm part of the AI Labs team at On, where we're working to bring people more joy through movement. I've worked across sectors, with a particular passion for media and storytelling, my time at the Financial Times and building the Guardian's Feast being the highlights.

After hours I write a newsletter about metropolitan life and culture.

FEAST0-1, PRODUCT STRATEGY, UX, RESEARCH LEADERSHIP

I WORKED ASRESEARCH AND STRATEGY LEAD

I led Research and Strategy for a newly formed lean innovation team at the Guardian, tasked with bringing a new, revenue-generating product to life in under a year. We quickly determined that our - already popular but underutilised - food journalism presented a clear opportunity to develop a monetisable digital experience, expanding the brand to reach new customers beyond the established news audience.

As a research lead I designed and directed a mixed-methods programme - foundational, trends and market research, diary studies, etnography, surveys, competitor analysis, concept validation and global Beta - to define user needs and opportunity spaces across multiple markets.

I became the voice of the customer and an expert in the competitive market of food media to spearhead the development of Feast. I provided direction and continuous reassurance to inform the positioning, tone of voice, monetisation and GTM strategies, and the growth roadmap of the Feast app.

The success of the project relied on ensuring that we have sustained board-level buy-in, and are aligned with the internal international teams on requirements to personalise the app to our three key markets: UK, US and AU. I facilitated cross-functional synthesis and decision-making sessions across the UK and US, acting as a senior strategic partner to product, editorial and executive stakeholders, balancing user, organisational and commercial needs to shape long-term service strategy.

Following an explosive global launch Feast achieved a 4.8★ App Store rating, over 200k downloads in the first two quarters, and secured a major retail partnership and 75%+ free trial conversion.

To gain board-level buy-in, we needed a user-centered story that brought to life our vision. We quickly created a mock user journey including the following phases: Ingredient Search: A user searches for recipes based on the ingredients in their fridge. Personalised Collections : to help users make it “theirs”. Shopping List Integration: to make the grocery run more seamless. Cook Mode: Includes voice commands for hands-free use, even with messy fingers. Community: Users can comment, rate, and share recipes.
This effectively showcased our vision and secured the necessary support.
